Technology is always changing, and in this digital age, eyeglass wearers have different needs than ever before. Mecklenburg Eye Associates is proud to offer a wide array of high definition, digital-customized lenses to meet each patient’s individual lifestyle. We recommend personalized lenses for all of our patients, using the latest in technology to surface not only the back side of the lenses, but a double surfacing method that minimizes any peripheral distortion that can occur, especially with higher powers and multifocals.
For all of our patients, blue light is becoming a major issue. The more time we spend on digital devices, the more exposure we get. Blue light exposure can lead to what is known as digital eye strain, and even in the short term, have negative effects on the macula of the eye. We offer many lens options to help combat these negative effects.
Blutech lenses for extended computer use and UV exposure are available, as well as Hoya Recharge anti-reflective coatings, which are designed for the technology user in mind.
For progressive (no-line multifocal) lens wears, we offer a wide array of brands and designs of lenses to meet your needs. Our highest recommendation is the Hoya Lifestyle 2 lenses. : A customized progressive lens, two different designs are available - the Lifestyle 2 Harmony and the Lifestyle 2 Clarity, depending on the patient’s needs.
For daily and ongoing computer users, especially those already wearing a multifocal progressive lens, lenses such as the TACT may be a solution, as a great second pair in addition to your everyday progressive lenses. TACT lenses maximize your visual range and focus at arm’s length distances, providing a clearer viewing zone up to 5 times larger than conventional eyeglass lenses. And they’re available with Recharge lens treatment to eliminate glare and reflections from office lights and computer screens. TACT lenses are also amazingly smudge-proof, so you can always focus on the task at hand. TACT Progressive Lenses
For our single vision patients (even children!) SYNC lenses are available to help reduce the strain these smaller screens can induce. SYNC lenses are designed for those not needing a true multifocal lens, but spend a lot of time on digital devices. The revolutionary design of SYNC lenses allows you to focus in all directions and distances – while your eyes remain relaxed – all day long. Not only does this alleviate eye strain, it significantly reduces fatigue caused by our everyday near task routines. SYNC Single Vision Lenses
