Widely recognized as one of the top cataract and intraocular lens implant surgeons in the state, Dr. Charles Blotnick recently performed one of the first Tecnis Symfony Introcluar Lens surgeries. This IOL is the first and only extended depth of focus lens available for people with cataracts.
Dr. Blotnick was also the first surgeon in North Carolina to implant the Glaukes Trabecular Micro-Bypass iStent. This stent improves the eye’s natural fluid outflow to safely lower eye pressure. When laser-aided cataract surgery was first introduced, Dr. Blotnick also performed one of the first surgical procedures in the region and continues to be one of the most experienced eye surgeons in the Carolinas.
He co-authored five publications pertaining to his research and studies. He then fulfilled his internship at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Blotnick is board-certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a diplomate of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
He has repeatedly been awarded Vitals Patients’ Choice Award, which recognizes doctors who provide exemplary care. He was awarded the On-Time Doctor Award in 2015. These awards are based on annual patient reviews and ratings collected from millions of patients and are awarded to less than 5 percent of all doctors nationwide.
An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Blotnick is an avid snow skier and enjoys hiking, biking, and watching sports with his wife and two sons.
